I was surprised to see negative reviews. I went for a facial and a basic manicure. The facial was fine. It wasn't a luxury facial, but for the price I wasn't expecting one. Jackie did a good job at the extractions. My chin and noise needed a lot of work and when she was done they looked so much better. My only complaint was that she gave me a hard sell on some additional treatments I didn't want. But, when I made it clear I wasn't interested she didn't push it.
My manicure was fine. She did a good job. I did a lot of cooking and washing up when I got home and the tips wore down a little, but considering the abuse I put my hands through, i'm surprised they didn't chip. I'm a swimmer and the manicure has held up after hours in the pool.
Wax review
I am so surprised by the ratings! I have been coming here since before they opened the location on 8th street and have never experienced the horror stories being told. Some wax technicians are better than others for sure, but you need to find your technician and stick with her. Also, when you are getting a wax "down there," sometimes you are more sensitive depending on the time of the month. Not everyone is perfect and I have been "burned" maybe twice in all the time I've gone there. I don't know her name, but the red haired lady is really good.
Laser Hair Removal Review
I am almost done with brazilian laser hair removal and I can't wait to do my legs! Oksana is great! I've used both types of machines and have had the same results. NO MORE HAIR! The Cynosure is nice because it blows really cold air and you can't feel the laser as much. They also don't use gel before they laser because you get better results with clean dry skin. I got my underarms done at a different place and it took 8 sessions (supposed to take 6)!!! Ridiculous! My brazilian bikini at Beauty and Youth only took 5!! Tan skin is more difficult to laser,
Staff and Ambiance Review
So sometimes the staff may seem a little cold, but I believe they are just trying to be professional. The blonde girl at the receptionist desk is really nice! So if you feel awkward when you first walk in, try to see her. The 8th street location is cute and clean. If you are looking for a place where as soon as you walk in you get a glass of wine and fluffy white robe with your initials already embroidered on it, then you'll have to go to a 5th ave spa and fork up $300 for a 30 minute massage. Sorry! If you're looking for an in and out place to get the job done, this is it!

if I were to think of brazilian waxing technicians like hookers, I would say Beauty and Youth has an excellent business model. She was quick, sanitary, and didn't say much. Excellent.
Whether she was untalkative due to the delicate nature of the procedure, or because she didn't speak English is unknown - but it doesn't matter. As many ladies can attest, there is nothing worse than being asked questions about your commute, where did you get your shoes, did you catch the eurocup, as a stranger rips hot wax off you.
But it was quick and less painful than many a brazilian I've had - so kudos for that. And at $25 it's so inexpensive I'm honestly surprised their ratings are so low. I had to wait substantially longer than I was told, hence only 4 stars, but I'll be back.

it was my first time at the salon and I booked a brazilian wax with them. Zhenya did a good job and the whole experience was almost pain-free. the salon is neat and clean. the girls at the reception desk were very helpful when i needed to reschedule my appointment. would definitely go back...
I've never had a facial before so i dont have any comparisons but I got my facail on Friday and definitely broke out a bit after, but I hear this is normal. My skin feels great and is clearing up where it broke out. The lady doing it seemed a little rushed and left the room for 10 min...
Awesome blowout -- it took some mousse and spray but the bulk of the credit goes to Vadim for the full head of super volume and perfectly tousled loose curls on my locks of long layers... It lasted me an entire Saturday evening into a lazy Sunday of sleeping in, and there was still plenty...
